Betty J. Burke

Betty J. Gebhardt Burke (nee: Campbell), was born July 5, 1934 in St. Louis, MO, to Roy Lee Campbell and Beulah Elizabeth Harrison (nee: Lewis). They preceded her in death. She had four sisters: Virginia Rodgers O’Dell (nee: Campbell), Josephine Cameron (nee: Campbell), Rose Rooney (nee: Campbell), and Shirley Matthews (nee: Campbell) and two brothers:  Walter Campbell and Paul Campbell. They also preceded her in death. Mrs. Betty Jo Burke married Elroy Alan Gebhardt, Sr. on March 28, 1952. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2014. Out of that marriage, they had seven wonderful children. Three daughters:  Sherrie Rose Calbreath (nee: Gebhardt), Susan Marie Hudson (nee: Gebhardt), and Becky Ann Tow (nee: Gebhardt). Four Sons:  Elroy Alan Gebhardt, Jr., Richard Kenneth Gebhardt, Sr., Alan Francis Gebhardt, Sr., and Stanley Tomas Branstetter (nee: Gebhardt). On September 17, 1974, she married Captain Lewis Burke. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1989. Out of that marriage, she had four stepsons:  William Burke, Eddie Burke, Rodger Burke, and Herman Burke. Betty Jo Burke and her husband, Captain Joseph Burke are members of Ozark Air Lines Silver Swallow’s. They loved to travel and soaring on her glider (Gateway Soaring Association) in the summer time. Their favorite thing they loved to do was bowling and were great sports at it. In her later years, she moved to St. Charles, MO to be closer to her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She enjoyed her times traveling with her two friends, Edna Torreance and Shirley Shilton, who were like sisters to her. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her favorite niece, Martha Sue (Marti) Rodgers Kirkgaard of Topeka, Kansas, and several other nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the American Heart Association.
