Cavanaugh, Delores “Dee Dee” Day of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2016 at the age of 87. Born July 15, 1929 in Washington, Indiana. Loving wife of the late George Terrance (Terry) Cavanaugh, Jr.; beloved daughter of the late Hubert and Edith Davis Day; proud mother of Lucinda Menkhus, Kim (Steve) Hrin, Alisa (Bob) Clark, and Kevin (Denise) Cavanaugh; cherished grandmother of Andrew, Zachary (Brittany), Jacob, Michael and Samantha; treasured great-grandmother of Rocky, Richie and Gemma. She was preceded in death by her sister Jessie Clarice Young, and brothers Harold Kenneth (Bus) Day and Robert Joseph (Bob) Day. Delores graduated from Washington High School, Washington, Indiana in 1947. She was a proud graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, Indiana. Early in her nursing career, Delores worked at Barnes Psychiatric and DePaul Hospital and later as a school nurse in the Ladue School District for 30 years. Delores lovingly and generously cared for her one and only true love, George, during the years of his Alzheimer’s illness. The family is grateful for the care and support given by caregivers from Right at Home in Home Care & Assistance in St. Charles, MO.
