Dolores “Dodie” Gocal

October 14, 1925 — January 13, 2016

Dolores (Dodie) Gocal, 90, passed away on January 13, 2016 of natural causes. She was born October 14, 1925 to Joseph & Mary Holland of St. Louis, MO.

Dodie was married to Bud Gocal for over 33 years. He proceeded her in death in January 2007. Dodie is survived by three sons and a daughter, Dave Brooks (Kathy) of Osage Beach; Mark Brooks (Debbie) of Anchorage, Alaska; Gere Libke (Tony) of St. Francis, Minnesota; and Keith Brooks (Christine) of Barnett, MO. She was preceded in death by one son Craig Brooks (Ruth Ann) of O’Fallon, MO. Dodie is also survived by seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.  

Dodie graduated from high school in 1943 in St. Louis. Raising her children was an adventure that she cherished deeply. Dodie retired from Monsato after many years of employment. Her outgoing personality allowed her to experience life to the fullest, she loved to travel and explore.   She enjoyed camping, fishing, and visiting the casino with her friends. After retirement she and Bud moved to Osage Beach in 1994. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and enjoyed working with the Crafty Ladies & Ladies Sodality there. She was a volunteer at Lake Regional Hospital and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Osage Beach.

Before her death, Dodie made her wishes clear to be cremated. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Camdenton on Friday, January 22nd at 1:00pm. A celebration of life will be held in Osage Beach on January 22, at The Elks Lodge from 3pm to 5pm.

Visitation is scheduled for 1:00pm on Monday, January 25th at the Baue Funeral and Memorial Center Chapel, Memorial at 2:00pm in Chapel and Graveside Service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Ladies Sodality, in care of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1874 N. Business Route 5, Camdenton, MO 65020.
