George E. Volkman

Volkman, Jr., George E., of St. Charles, MO, died on Monday, June 19, 2017, at the age of 94. Loving husband of the late Esther L. Volkman; beloved son of the late George E., Sr. and Clara Volkman; devoted father of Judy (Ken) Curtis and Steve (Lynette) Volkman; cherished grandfather of Kathy (Shawn) Teters, Bryan (Angela) Curtis, and Anthony Volkman; treasured great-grandfather of Katelyn Rey, Eleanor Curtis, Jason Teters, Patrick Teters, Cooper Volkman, Bella Volkman, Anna Curtis, and Jaymie Soto Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Florence, Margie, and Charles.

George proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, landing on Normandy Beach he was a survivor of D day. George was the recipient of 5 Bronze Stars. He served in the campaigns of Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, and North France. He was a long-time member of St. John United Church of Christ in St. Charles, MO, American Legion Post #338 in Overland, MO, and American Legion Post #312 in St. Charles, MO. He enjoyed golfing and watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Mostly, George loved being with his family and friends, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
