John W. Hooker Sr.

John W. Hooker Sr. of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the age of 100. Beloved husband of Evelyn M. Hooker of 78 years; devoted father of John (Judith) W. Hooker, Ronald (Barbara) J. Hooker, James (Denise) E. Hooker, and daughter-in-law Jan Hooker; loving grandfather of eight; and treasured great-grandfather of twenty-five, and great-great-grandfather of two. John was preceded in death by his parents Warner W. and Rosie Hooker, his son Richard, and siblings Adam, Fred, Thomas, Alma, and Sylvia.

John was a devout catholic and was a longtime parishioner of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in O'Fallon. He worked for General Grocer as a driver for over 31 years before retiring in 1976 after winning the Illinois State Lottery. He and Evelyn enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their RV. Some of John's hobbies was visiting the casino's and playing the slots, poker, fishing, and barbecuing.  Above everything else, John's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family but especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
