Mary L. Hoeman

Mary L. Hoeman (nee Spence)

Mary was born September 17, 1926 in Center Ridge Arkansas to Andrew A. Spence and Willie V. Spence. Mary was baptized July 18^th, 1938. She transferred to Concordia Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, from Concordia Lutheran Church, Maplewood in 1958. Her final church home was Holy Cross Lutheran Church, O’Fallon, Missouri she transferred there November 2000.

Mary was married to James H. Caldwell in August 1944. One daughter was born to this marriage: Donna Victoria Caldwell (June 25, 1945 – May 29, 2019).

She was married to Richard J. Hoeman on June 12, 1959. Two daughters were born to this marriage: Linda Susan Greathouse (May 6, 1963) and Pamela Louise Franke (May 9, 1965). Mary was also stepmother to Richard Dennis Hoeman (June 8, 1945).

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, who died October 28, 1998; one brother, Joe Spence; and three sisters, Anna Mae Bradley, LaVerne Baugus, and Betty Mitchell. She is mourned by her daughters, stepson, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, and her grandchildren; Nick Andrews, Marie Dukeshire, Noelle Monzyk, Bryant, Brandon, and Bradley Greathouse, and Chris, Tim, and Jon Hoeman, and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Patty Phipps; one brother James W. Spence, other relatives and a host of friends.

Mary worked with her husband in their jewelry store until his health forced the closing of their store in 1974.

Interment will be in St. Lucas cemetery following the service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
