Robert “Bob” Achelpohl

Achelpohl, Robert “Bob” of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the age of 53. Beloved husband of Melissa Achelpohl, cherished son of John Achelpohl and the late Beverly Joan Munson, and devoted father of Leanne (Daniel) Tumulty, Matthew Achelpohl, Rachel Achelpohl, and Elijah Achelpohl. He was the dear son-in-law of James and June Jackson and cherished brother-in-law of Debby Jackson and Steve (Alison) Jackson. He was a beloved uncle to Amanda Jackson, Tyshaya Jackson and Kellen Jackson. Bob is preceded in death by his grandparents Kurt and Alice Achelpohl and Raymond and Lucille Munson.

Bob was a self-employed building inspector and general contractor for over twenty-nine years. He was a past member of the American Society of Home Inspectors and filled many roles on their administrative board. Bob enjoyed eighteen years of coaching basketball and soccer at Assumption Parish and volunteered countless hours to the Assumption youth sports programs. This was his passion; he loved nothing more than spending his time in the gym or at the soccer fields, helping wherever he was needed. He also served on the board for the Assumption Athletic Association for many years. Finally, Bob served as President of the Catholic Youth Association and as Golf Coordinator for the Catholic Youth Council.

Bob greatly enjoyed kayaking on the Current River, camping, and hiking, cherishing this time with his children and his father. He was a history buff who also loved art, antiques, cooking, gardening, and golf. Bob could repair or build just about anything – he was a true “jack-of-all-trades.” He loved people and enjoyed interesting conversation, always learning or teaching something new along the way. He was a true and generous friend, willing to share his own time and knowledge with anyone who needed it.

Bob was so dearly loved by his wife, his father, and his children. He was deeply devoted to his family and was their source of both strength and joy in all things. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all others who knew him.
