Al Grossmann, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at the age of 98. Loving husband of Virginia Grossmann; beloved son of the late August and Petra Grossmann; devoted father of Rick (Cindy) Grossmann, Linda Grossmann, Dan (Marilyn) Grossmann, Roger (Vicki) Grossmann, Dave (Cecilia) Grossmann, Randy Grossmann, and Mark (Martha Jane) Grossmann; and stepfather of Carl (Heather) Wilson, and Patty (Dave) Michelson; cherished grandfather of 26 and great-grandfather of 32; dear brother of Martha and Louisa. Al is also preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Grossmann.
Touched by Pearl Harbor, Al enlisted in the Navy in October of 1942 where he proudly served until his discharge in 1946. Wanda and Al spent 53 years together in marriage. Having received his MA from Washington University, Al happily retired from McDonnell Douglas after 34 years. With an instant connection, Virginia and Al spent 22 wonderful years together. It can be said that he was a Godly example, World War II hero, loving husband, father-figure, epic storyteller, brilliant mind, mentor to many and friend. His stories can be heard to this day at the St. Charles Veteran's Museum. Al was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
