Stahlschmidt (nee: Iffrig); son of the late William A. and Mary Stahlschmidt; devoted father of Stephen Stahlschmidt and Cynthia (Ed) Hart; dear brother of Agnes (Clem) Vehige and the late Fred, Raymond, Matthew, Joseph, Martin, Sr. Edith & Sr. Ann Stahlschmidt; beloved grandfather of Stephanie Lautt, Melissa Stahlschmidt, Amy (Jeff) Shoemaker and Cory Shelton; great-grandfather of Jordan and, Jacob Stahlschmidt, Coby and Cayden Shelton, Samantha and Tucker Shoemaker. Alan was a self-employed farmer in West Alton, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Alton and served in the U.S. Army as a Medic at Pearl Harbor during WWII.
