Albert Walter Maunder, of Saint Louis, MO, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Geraldine Lee Maunder; cherished son of the late John Maunder and the late Grace Schaffer; devoted father of Cynthia (Tim) Connoley, Melinda (Mike) Mitchell, Melissa Sachse and Christina Stringer; loving grandfather of Michael, Nikki, Eric, Catie, Jordan, Peyton, Josie, Riley and Nick; dear brother of the late Jane (Carl) Grotpeter, the late Sue (Warren) Metzler-Ohm and the late John (Jane) Maunder; loving great-grandfather, cherished uncle and cousin to many.
Albert lived an active and vibrant life, always embracing the outdoors and spending time with his family. He enjoyed bike riding, running, fishing, and golfing, passions that kept him on the move and connected to nature. Albert was a devoted grandfather who never missed a sporting event, whether local or out of town, always there to support his grandchildren in all their endeavors. To his friends and family, he was nothing short of a legend—admired for his unwavering dedication and enthusiasm.
Albert found great joy in his work as an engineer at McDonnell Douglas and Boeing, where he worked for over 30 years, contributing to the development of fighter jets, a job that filled him with pride. His happiest moments were spent with his family, especially on summer vacations at Lake of the Ozarks, a cherished tradition. As the original "girl dad" to his four loving daughters, he was a guiding light in their lives, deeply loved and adored by them. His warmth, energy, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
