Alice Marie Guye (nee Ross) of Ellisville, Missouri, died at age 90 on Nov. 21, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ethel Ross; her sister, Marjorie Baldwin; her husband, Louis Guye; her son, Michael (Theresia) Guye, and her daughter, Valerie (Brian) Reilly. She is survived by her daughter, Annette Guye-Kordus (Bob) and her son, Douglas Guye (Margaret); and by numerous grandchildren, Betsy Guye-Fritz (Jon), Candy Rhodes and Jeffrey Willis; Ellen Reilly; Jennifer Geiselhart (Michael), Helena Guye, Chloe Guye and Ryan Guye; Rob Kordus and Rachel Kordus and numerous great grandchildren including Brooklynn, and Aidan, Anna, Catherine and Thomas.
Alice was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on Sept. 9, 1928. She graduated from Boardman High School, Boardman, Pennsylvania. In 1948, she met and married Louis Guye in Elkins, West Virginia. The couple settled in Akron, Ohio, where three of their four children, Michael, Valerie and Annette were born. In 1961 they relocated to St. Charles, Missouri, where their fourth child, Douglas, was born.
Alice lived in St. Charles for 50 years. For many years she was a homemaker who also was active in several political and social organizations. In 1973 she began working at K-Mart Corporation, first at the Bridgeton and then in the St. Charles store. She retired from K-Mart in 1993. In retirement she traveled, spent time with friends, cultivated her plants and gardens, cared for her pets, and devoted her time to her children and grandchildren.
Alice will be remembered for her love of family, her interest and wide knowledge of current events, her love of animals, her impeccable green thumb, and mostly for her fun and social spirit. She enjoyed life and was happiest when surrounded by people, especially when those she loved were around her. Her lively personality, sharp and unrelenting sense of humor made her popular with all she met and she garnered many, many friends throughout her life. She was well loved, and will be deeply missed.
