Allan L. Gingerich, of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Monday, September 23, 2013 at the age of 74. Loving husband of Joan Gingerich (nee: Griggs); dear son of the late Arbon and Evelyn Gingerich; devoted father of Dee (Brian) Smyth and Michael (Kim) Gingerich; cherished grandfather of Liam (Aleigh) Smyth, Kelly Smyth, Moria Smyth, Jared Gingerich, Kaitlyn Gingerich, and Jacob Gingerich; dear brother of M.J. Palley, Martha Allovio, John (Judi) Gingerich, and brother-in-law of John E. (Mary J.) Griggs. Preceded in death by his brother-in-laws Albert Palley, Henry Allovio, and Joe E. Griggs.
Al worked at McDonnell Douglas for 31 years and worked for the Marketing Division for most of that time. He was the Marketing Manager on the F/A-18, Proposal Manager on the winning A-12, and started and directed the Proposal Center in St. Louis. He was responsible for insuring that the new Acquisition Process was put into place and used on all new business endeavors. He was a founding member of the APMP (Association of Proposal Manager Professionals). Allan was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Charles MO, a member of Sages the McDonnell Douglas Retirement Club, and the Oldfathers Investment Club where he served as President, Vice President and Treasurer. Allan was a proud alumni of U of I.
Services: The family is being served by The Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street, St. Charles, MO where visitation will be held Thursday, September 26, 2013 3:00-5:00 PM with a Funeral Service following at 5:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or First United Methodist Church.
