Allen “Al” Southmayd, 85, of Florissant, MO, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Beloved husband for 64 years of Estelle “Stella” Southmayd (nee Schreiter); devoted father of Debra (Craig) Rowberry, Randy (Janet) Southmayd, Tamara (Bud) Buhmann and Timothy (Tricia) Southmayd; loving grandfather of Jared (Lindsey) Rowberry, Katherine (Brian) Bayley, Erik (Sarah) Rowberry, Melissa (Pen) Chance, Joseph Buhmann, Brendan Southmayd, Max (Kevin) Buhmann and Austin (Mallory) Southmayd and great-grandfather of Kamren Rowberry, Nicholas Bayley, Bennett Bayley, Kolten Rowberry, Eleanor Bayley, Adley Buhmann, Mallory Bayley, Kaiden Rowberry, Owen Buhmann and Kohen Rowberry.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, John Southmayd and Beatrice Hutchins Southmayd VanDuyne and his brothers Walter Southmayd and Robert Southmayd.
Al was a devoted Air Force veteran. He worked for McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in Tool Design R&D for 37 years and as a job contractor for 4 years after he retired. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, sketching, drawing and volunteering. His natural leadership and organization skills led him to serve as a Florissant Area Khoury League President, Master of MO Mizpah Lodge 609, Executive Director of The Emergency Assistance Ministry (TEAM), President of the McDonnell Douglas Sages and President of the Parc Argonne Board of Trustees. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his ever-growing family. Allen was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Allen's name to American Heart Association.
