Archie L. Counts, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024, at the age of 92. Loving husband of Roberta M. Counts; beloved son of the late A. D. and Opal Counts; devoted father of Dennis (Jennifer) Counts and Archie G. (Lisa) Counts, his children took very loving care of him during his illness; cherished grandfather of Ashley (Issac) Shannon, Clay (Lauren) Counts, and Zachary (Marissa) Counts; treasured great-grandfather of Knox Shannon, Kruz Shannon, Rae Lynn Counts, Avery Counts, Wesley Counts, Miller Counts, August Counts, and Wagner Counts; dear brother of Shirley (Ronald) Dugal, Barbara (Brent) Ward, and Gary (Ellen) Counts; and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Archie is also preceded in death by his grandson, Arron Moffat; sister, Carolyn (Joe) Stocker; and brother, Mike Counts.
Archie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an Air Traffic Controller in Alaska. He was a member of American Legion St. Charles Post 312. He went on to work for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller, a role he deeply enjoyed and in which he excelled.
Archie married Roberta on October 16, 1954, and together they shared many loving years. Family was always important to him. He spent his time outdoors whenever he could, enjoying hunting, and fishing. He also loved bowling and had a passion for gardening and woodworking. His life was filled with the love of many friends and family. Archie was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Archie's name to Cystic Fibrosis.
