Arthur “Rusty” Franklin, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the age of 68. Rusty is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Diane M. Franklin, He is the cherished son of the late Barbara and Joseph "Whitey" Franklin; devoted father of Nicole (Tyler) Morice, Nathan Franklin, Nicholas (Lindsey) Franklin, and stepdaughters, Sarah Koester and Kayla (Austin) MacDonald; the loving grandfather of Raelynn Morice, Colton Morice, Ashlynn Franklin, Bryson Franklin, Aubrey Franklin, and Bennett MacDonald; precious uncle of James French, Olivia and Dustin Dove, Rachel, Jared, and Richard; and dear brother-in-law of Daryl (Mary) Dove, and Dennis (Sheila) Dove. Rusty was also preceded in death by his sister, Robin French.
Rusty was a devoted family man. He held the people he loved near and dear to his heart, as his biggest pride and joy was his children and grandchildren. Rusty was caring, honest, and very funny. He was a big teddy bear and was never afraid to cry while watching Little House on the Prairie. Rusty was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching Cardinals baseball games. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and listening to oldies rock and roll. Rusty loved to BBQ for friends and family, upkeeping his yard by mowing grass and tending to his flowers. He made staying up to date with his children a priority in his life. Rusty was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Donations can be made to Curing Retinal Blindness, the Nathan Franklin Special Needs Trust, for Rusty’s son, Nathan, who has experienced a traumatic brain injury, masses at St. Paul Catholic Church, or a charity of your choice.
