Arthur Lee Schmidt of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019, at the age of 90. Cherished son of the late Otto and Catheryn Schmidt; loving husband of the late Joyce L. Schmidt; beloved companion of Norma Carlson; devoted father of Jane C. (Wesley) Vaughn, Jean C. (Tony) Greco, and Kathy V. (Ronny) Mayer; loving grandfather of Rhiannon (David) Ovdenk, Wendy (Justin) Tabor, Jennifer Parsons, Thomas (Sarah) Parsons III, Nikki (Drew) Burks, Aaron (Karleigh) Greco, Scott Mayer, and Douglas (Shannon) Mayer; treasured great-grandfather of James Todd "T.J." Day, Caitlyn Gilbert, Jeffrey Allen "Trey" Gilbert III, Allora Ovdenk, Rosa Ovdenk, Henry Zelasko, Olivia Burks, Maggie Burks, Wrenn Greco, Grace Mayer, Savannah Mayer; dear brother of Shirley (Art) Nagle; precious uncle of Nancy (Mike) Plunk, Tom (Mary) Nagle, and great-uncle of Kaitlyn Plunk; dear friend of Gary Carlson; beloved uncle, great-uncle, and friend.
Arthur proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Order, and was an avid golfer and active member of two Lake Saint Louis men's golf leagues, as well as the Couples Golf League. Arthur was inducted into the University of Missouri - Rolla Hall of Fame for football as a quarter back. He was a life-long fan of the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball team. Most of all, Arthur’s greatest joy was his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
