Arvel E. Dewing, of St. Peters, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the age of 96. Loving husband of 72 years to Marcella Dewing; beloved son of the late Henry and Effie Dewing; dear brother of the late Essie Willmann; cherished uncle of Pamela (Blair) Wettstein, Marcella Frances, and Mark (Marianne) Willmann.
Arvel proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949. He pursued a career in law enforcement and retired after more than 40 years with the State of Missouri as a Criminal Investigator in St. Louis.
Arvel and Marcella enjoyed traveling together, and they visited 48 of the 50 states, as well as Mexico and Canada’s beautiful Lake Louise. He loved music and played the steel guitar and had his own orchestra when he was younger, and he also played the keyboard. As a very talented artist, he enjoyed oil painting, which he filled their house full of paintings that it looked like an art gallery.
As a spiritual man, Arvel looked forward to reading his Bible every day, and he listened to Billy Graham on the radio. He loved attending church services on Wednesdays and Sundays. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial contributions may be made in Arvel's name to Samaritan's Purse.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 all visitations and services will be limited to immediate family. Thank you for your understanding.
