Arvel “Sid” Purdy

Purdy, Arvel "Sid", of St. Charles, MO, asleep in Jesus on Friday, January 9, 2015, at the age of 84. Loving husband of the late Doris Jean Purdy; beloved son of the late Vernon Purdy and the late Cordula Howard; devoted father of Sharon (Richard) Wilkins, Steven (Amy) Purdy, Dean (Shelia) Purdy, and Douglas Purdy; cherished grandfather of Julie Britton, Jessica (Lee) Chittum, Jason Purdy, Ryan Purdy, Ashley (Jason) Kammerer, and Tracie Patterson; treasured great-grandfather of 5; and dear brother of Carroll Dean Purdy. Sid is also survived by many other relatives and great friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Franklin Wayne Purdy.
Sid proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict, from 1951 to 1955. He, then, went on to work for Home Federal Savings and Loan for over 38 years, before retiring at the age of 65. Sid has been a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1968, where he served as both a Secretary and Chairman. He also served on the Board of Lutheran Family and Children Services; was a member of the Ritenour Optimist Club; and was a member of the St. Charles Rotary Club, for many years. Sid enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, and spending time with his friends & family, especially his grandchildren.
