Ava Lee Taylor (nee Erwin) of St. Charles, Missouri, and formerly of Arlington, Texas, passed away December 31, 2020, at the age of 83.
Ava was born in Portales, New Mexico, on February 1, 1937, and lived in New Mexico most of her childhood years. She then lived briefly in Zephyr, Texas, until the family moved to Purdy, Missouri, where Ava graduated high school.
In 1956 she married Richard C. Seth, and together they had one daughter, Kimberly.
They moved to St. Charles, Missouri, then briefly to Mascoutah, Illinois, where Ava earned her teaching degree. After they returned to St. Charles, she taught business courses at Francis Howell High School for several years.
Ava eventually moved to Arlington, Texas, where she met and married Charles A. Taylor, and was active in her church and as a Children’s Leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She enjoyed reading, traveling around the world with Charles, and spending time with her extensive family in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Ava and Charles moved to St. Charles in 2006, where she enjoyed an active social life as a member of the Red Hat Society. She was also inducted into the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2015.
Ava is preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles; parents Alvah Lee “Shorty” Erwin and Lillian Erwin Shepherd; brothers J.R. (Ruth Anne) and Raymond (Barbara Jan) Erwin; sister Iva Jean Roller (Ted); and son-in-law Leland C. Smith II.
She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Seth Smith; stepdaughter Sharon Agan (Richard); stepson David Taylor (the late Joanne); stepdaughter-in-law Cissy Sylo (Jerry); grandchildren Aaron (Monica), Jordan, and Anna Smith, and Brock, Spencer, and Morgan Sylo; great-grandson Roland “Rolly” Smith; sister Inez Linebarger (Gary); and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
