With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Kay Dallen, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Barbara’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family, faith, and community.
She was deeply cherished by her four daughters, Cecilia, Dianne, Elaine, and Gerry, as well as her two stepchildren, Hope and Skip. Her love extended to her ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two step-grandkids, and two step-great-grandkids, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph A. Jung, the father of her four children; her second husband, Eugene Dallen; her parents, Kathryn and Albert William Westhoff; her brother, Albert William Westhoff, Jr.; and her infant daughter, Francis Ann Jung.
A devout Catholic, Barbara found strength and solace in her faith. She loved attending church and was actively involved in many church groups, always eager to serve and support her parish community.
Throughout her life, Barbara dedicated herself to the care of others. She selflessly tended to her disabled husband while raising four daughters and working to support her family. She later cared for her mother with the same devotion. Her professional journey included roles at Ozark Airlines, managing a school cafeteria, leading the Mid-East Area on Aging, and working at a frame shop. She also served as a Girl Scout leader, helping to shape young lives with her kindness and wisdom.
Barbara was a talented seamstress, crafting beautiful garments for her daughters, including an entire wedding party’s attire. Her generosity extended beyond her family, as she crocheted hundreds of hats for charity. Never one to shy away from a challenge, she purchased and rehabilitated a house and later embarked on the ambitious venture of planning and launching a restaurant, Brando’s.
Known affectionately as Mom, Grandma, Gram Barb, and TooToo, Barbara embraced life’s joys. She loved Mardi Gras celebrations, puzzles, cheese danish, a glass (or two) of wine, and playing Facebook games. Her compassionate heart always sought to uplift the less fortunate, and her kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Barbara Kay Dallen will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love, faith, generosity, and strength will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Memorial donations may be made in Barb's name to the American Cancer Society.
