Howard, Barbara Ann, of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the age of 76. Dear daughter of the late Samuel Lee and Twila Lynn Harshbarger; loving mother of Lee Ann (John) Howard-O'Brien, Donald E. (Melissa) Howard, Sr. the late David M. Howard, and the late R. Neal Howard; dear mother-in-law of Barbara Vogt-Howard and Cindy Rendon; cherished grandmother of Samantha, Donald Jr., Emma, Neal, Steven, Clark and Clair Ann; dear sister of Lynn Orf; dear aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend to all who knew her. After 25 years Barbara retired as the Evening Lab Supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, MO. Previously, she worked at Booneslick Medical Group for 30 years and started the clinical laboratory at that location. She also worked as a Lab Technician at DePaul Hospital for approximately 10 years and as a Lab Technician at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Peters for approximately 15 years. Barbara was very active in many organizations and in her community. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, St. Charles where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Barbara was a volunteer in medicine, part of Jane's House of Yoga, a world traveler and annual participant in the American Cancer Society's Realy for Life. She was an avid reader, especially a good mystery novel. She valued her realtionships with family and friends. Above all else, Barbara never met a stranger, touched so many hearts during her lifetime and will be greatly missed.
