Barbara Jane (Reeves) Fletcher of St. Charles, MO (formally of Grand Island, Nebraska), died on Saturday, November 26th at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Barbara was born on September 23, 1942 in New York City to Edward H. Reeves and Jane Squair (Ferguson) Reeves. Her early years were spent in Cedar Grove, New Jersey where she graduated from Bloomfield High School. She went on to attend Doane University in Crete, Nebraska graduating in 1964. While at Doane she met her future husband Robert Fletcher. They were married on August 17, 1963. Barbara and Bob had two children Glenn and Janet.
Barbara chose education for her vocation and taught for 30 years mostly at Knickrehm Elementary School. She loved teaching young children and was extremely proud of the school and her colleagues.
Barbara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. While her children were young she helped develop Christian educational material for the church. She later became an elder and was a member of the Prayer Shawl ministry. When Barbara and Bob moved to St. Charles, Missouri she was involved with St. Charles Presbyterian Church where she started a Prayer Shawl ministry and became a Deacon.
She leaves behind her loving family, husband Robert Fletcher, daughter Janet Ferry, son-in-law Lee Ferry and grandchildren Jennifer and Jack Ferry. Her family also include her brother Edward H. Reeves and sister Janellen Carnes, sister-in-law Charlene Fletcher, and nephews Douglas and David Fletcher.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son Glenn E. Fletcher, her mother Jane S. Ferguson Reeves and her father Edward Harvey Reeves.
Barbara was deeply loved by her family and friends. She will be forever missed.
