Barbara J. Roach (nee Brunner), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Donnie Dean Roach; cherished daughter of the late Arnold J. Brunner and Dorothy Pullen. Devoted mother of Jeremy (Laurel Harrington) Roach and Jenni (Chris) DeGuentz; loving Nana of Conlin Roach, Genevieve Roach, Louis DeGuentz, Mitchell DeGuentz, and Nathan DeGuentz; dear sister of Vernon (Delores) Brunner, the late Shirley Allyn, the late Duane Brunner, and the late Gerald Brunner.
Barb grew up in Cashmere, Washington. She graduated from Whitman College and began teaching. She married Don in 1966 and in 1976 they moved to St. Charles. Don and Barb bowled in a league, played mixed doubles tennis for years, and were always fans at their kids and grandkids games. Barb kept score in her notepad and no matter the outcome, she always had a “good game hug” for her grandkids. Barb enjoyed playing cards, reading, having lunch with her retired teacher friends, and a big bowl of popcorn. She learned to knit for the sole purpose of making baby blankets for her grandkids. Barb disliked carnations, pools and lakes, and flying- but took many boat rides on Lake Sherwood and Lake of the Ozarks and flights to Seattle to be with family. She was amazingly kind, thoughtful and tolerant and will be missed by all who knew her.
Barb was a member of St. Cletus Catholic Church, AAUW, and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Special thanks to Season’s Hospice and the caring staff at The Boulevard of St. Charles Memory Care. There is not enough gratitude in the world to thank Barb and Don’s longtime neighbors- especially Tom and Barb, Tim and Jan, and Chuck and Cam.
Memorials may be made in Barbara's name to the Missouri Botanical Garden or charity of your choice- and be kind to friends and strangers alike.
