Barbara Jeanette Fritts

October 27, 1939 — December 18, 2020

Barbara Jeanette Fritts (nee Weaks), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of Harold Fritts; cherished daughter of Doyne Weaks and Helen (the late Hank) Lennon. Devoted mother of Kimberly (Jeff Fulford) Fritts, Steven (Debbie) Fritts, Matthew (Monica Sheets) Fritts, and Felicia (Thomas Bond) Fritts; loving grandmother of Jacob Bond, Elizabeth Fritts, and Michael Fritts; dear sister of Susan (the late Edward) Skinner, Donald (Jan) Weaks, Chris (Heather) Lennon; nephews, nieces, cousins and many dear friends.

Barb loved animals, including the many cats who lived with her and Harry over the years and the birds and other wildlife who frequented their St. Peters home for handouts. She had strong opinions and hated cruelty and injustice. She had a sense of humor that tended toward the absurd, often breaking into song. She enjoyed collecting beautiful dolls. She loved New York City, Broadway musicals, and music, particularly jazz, rhythm and blues and pop.

Barbara was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

From her Grand-daughter, Beth-

"Barbara Fritts was so cool! She was a classic Scorpio, with sharp wit and tough edges. She'd jump to the defense of the most important people in her life: her husband, children, grandchildren, and every animal and cute baby. She loved to travel, loved New York City, and last time she went in 2019, stayed in a hotel in Times Square. She's a badass and I hope I can really honor her."

Memorials may be made in Barbara's name to North Shore Animal Shelter or any local no kill shelter.
