Barbara G. Schiefelbein, 87, previously from Lake St. Louis, Missouri was called home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully with family at her side on November 17, 2023 in Blue Springs, Missouri. Barbara was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 6, 1936 to Joseph B. and Vesper (Bloomquist) Gliot. She attended school in the Chicago School District her whole life, graduating from William Howard Taft High School in 1954. Barbara met the love of her life Gordon W. Schiefelbein, starting as friends in grammar school and blooming into love in later years. While Gordon was starting his Air Force career, Barbara attended and graduated from Beloit University achieving her teaching degree in 1958.
Barbara and Gordon were married June 21, 1958 and their family quickly grew. They had 5 children in 10 years while being stationed at 5 different bases during that time. Every time they moved, Barbara made their home warm and welcoming for family and new friends. She was well known for her amazing dinners and especially her Christmas cookies. Her doors were always open and family and the friends of her children always knew there would be good snacks and fun times at their house. Barbara and Gordon settled in Lake St. Louis in 1977 and quickly made that their permanent home. During this time, they faithfully attended Chapel of the Lake. Barbara would later go into retail and worked at Old Time Pottery working her way into management. After she and Gordon retired, they enjoyed many years of travel all over the world. She was an amazing gardener and their home was always filled with bright beautiful flowers. Barbara loved to knit and every one of her kids and grandkids received a beautiful afghan blanket with their school colors and every baby, grandbaby and great grand-baby was warmed by her love and a hand knitted blanket.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Carol Hallam and Susan (Terry) Nelson; sons Douglas (Cheryl) Schiefelbein, Paul (Susan) Schiefelbein, Mark (Courtney) Schiefelbein.
