Bea Black, a 20-year resident of Lake St. Louis, died suddenly on Sunday, February 24. Originally from Ohio, she married James W. Black and they raised their family there. She had many interests, and had a full and active life. She was always curious and was an avid reader and expressed her creative talents in many ways. She drew portraits, painted in watercolors, wrote poetry, and even wrote a square dance book with her grandson. Bea was always goal-oriented and in mid-life graduated from Wright State University with a teaching degree. She continued to teach later in life as a volunteer tutor with the Oasis Program in Wentzville Schools. She was always making friends and getting people together to experience new things and fellowship. Because of this trait, she started the local "Why Eat Alone" Supper Club. Bea was preceded in death by her husband James W. Black and her sister Elizabeth. She is survived by her brother, Robert Wyatt, Streetsboro, OH; her children, Valerie (John) Kerwin of Sarasota, FL, Ted (Rosie) Black of Grand Forks, ND, Carolyn Livergood of Lake St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Emily Kerwin Gonzalez, Angela Black Erickson, Wyatt Black, Sam Black, Kirby Black, Isaac Black, Catrina Livergood, Reed Livergood, Marie Livergood, Ryan Livergood; and 4 great-grandchildren, Levi Black, and Soraya, Diego, and Penelope Gonzalez. In lieu of flowers, Bea's memory would be honored by a donation of time, talents, or money to a charitable organization or worthy cause of your choice. She cherished family and friends most of all and asked that each of us share our own talents with those around us.
