Benjamin “Ben” Nothstine

February 24, 1925 — April 22, 2022

Benjamin E. “Ben” Nothstine, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at the age of 97. Beloved husband of Charla Mae Nothstine; cherished son of the late Clem and Clara Nothstine; devoted father of Fred L. (Susan) Nothstine, Nancy K. (Dwane) Phifer and Mark S. (Barbara) Nothstine; loving grandfather of Heather (Paul) Schoenherr, Jake Phifer, Ben (Elyse) Nothstine; Megan (Brendan) Phifer-Davis, Haley Nothstine, Katie Nothstine, and Amanda Nothstine: treasured great-grandfather of Elijah, Faith, Raegan, and Charlotte; dear brother-in-law of Randy (Karen) Benefield; Ben is preceded in death by his siblings, George, Viola, Leona, Glovina “Bunk” and Jay. Ben was a beloved uncle and friend to many.  

Ben proudly and honorably served in the United States Army during World War II under General Patton with the 17th Airborne. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and crossing the Rhine River. Ben was a lifetime member of Orchard Farm VFW Post # 4219. He served for many years on the Orchard Farm School Board and was a member of St John's United Church of Christ in St. Charles, Missouri. Ben rang the bell at the church and loved the fellowship he had with church members. Ben was very sociable; he never met a stranger. He loved people and visiting and sharing stories. Ben married the love of his life and was a loving husband to Charla for 72 years. Family was very important to Ben, and he was very devoted to his family. Ben was a lifelong farmer, he loved farming so much he always felt as though he never worked a day in his life. Ben was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Ben’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
