Bernadine Dorothy Shafer

Bernadine D. "Bernie" Shafer (nee Greisen), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Stuart Shafer; cherished daughter of the late Christian Greisen and the late Victoria Wemhoff; devoted mother of Scott (Sandy) Bichel and Christy (Kent) Jennings; loving grandmother of Jessica (Brad) Ermeling, Brad (Abby) Bichel, Kelsey (Joe) Watson, Corey (Alex) Bichel, and Madison (Corey) Schaadt; treasured great grandmother of Ella, Nora, Owen, and Cole Ermeling, Beau and Isabella Watson, and James and Lenore Bichel.

Bernie was a dedicated 2nd-grade teacher at Monroe Elementary School for over 25 years and a devout member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Charles, MO. She had a passion for gardening, sewing, and decorating homes, bringing beauty and creativity into every space. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, she also cherished time with her family. Bernie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be made in Bernie’s name to Our Lutheran Church Early Childhood Center or Operation Smiles.
