Bernice A. Eifert

Memorials may be made to Community Living Inc. or Boone Center Inc. Bernice Alma Eifert of St. Charles, died March 19, 2007. Born September 6, 1913 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Karl and Ida Heckel. On May 22, 1936, she was married to Lorenz Eifert, who had recently been ordained as a Lutheran pastor. Bernice was a dedicated pastor's wife for 49 years, partnering with her husband in congregations in Southern California, St. Louis, MO, and finally in St. Charles at Our Savior Lutheran Church from 1961 to 1986 when Pastor Eifert passed away. Bernice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was devoted to her family and cherished by them. Surviving are daughters Lois Reilly and husband Tom of Lake St. Louis, Barbara Smith and husband Jerome of Laurel Fork, VA, and a son Paul Eifert of St. Charles. Grandchildren are Michelle Reilly of St. Charles, Kristine Zeisler and husband Robert of St. Peters, Tom Reilly and wife Ann of St. Charles, and Molly Eifert of St. Louis. Great-grandchildren are Nick and Brigitte Reilly and Cole Zeisler. Bernice is also survived by a sister, Olga Walther. Pre-deceasing her were two brothers, Karl and Floyd Heckel.
