Betty J. Anderson (nee Brown), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Thomas J Anderson, Jr.; cherished daughter of the late Henry and Mary Brown. Devoted mother of Mary Anderson, Susan (the late Richard) Baisch, Lillian Anderson, and Robert (Joyce) Anderson; loving grandmother of Michael (Nicole) Baisch, Thomas (Janet) Anderson, Kathryn (Travis Martin) Baisch, Jennifer (Doug) Koeneman, and Cassie (Justin) Anderson Mackey; treasured great-grandmother of Grant, Evan, Patrick, Mateo, Sawyer, Robert, Eva, and Layla; dear sister of Peggy (the late Dempsey) Patrick, Jim (Joyce) Brown, and Sally (Ed) Gerheauser; sister-in-law of Arlie (Laverne) Ehlmann; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by four sisters, Cleo Ehlmann, Stella (the late Kenneth) Hinson, Sherry (the late Richard) Nappier, and Barbra Brown; two brothers, John Brown and Joseph Brown.
While raising her family, Betty was the epitome of community dedication and service. Her vibrant involvement in First United Methodist Church spanned across multiple roles, from dedicated member of the women's association to nurturing Sunday School teacher and meticulous wedding committee member. Beyond her church commitments, Betty's altruism extended to volunteering with the American Red Cross, where she selflessly lent her time and skills. Her leadership was also evident in her tenure as a former Girl Scout leader, fostering growth and empowerment in young minds. Betty's passion for sports and community cohesion shone through her membership and officer positions in the St. Charles Women’s Bowling Association, where she brought people together through friendly competition. Her remarkable achievements were recognized with her induction into the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame, a testament to her enduring impact. After two decades of dedicated service, Betty retired from Southwestern Bell in 1998, and she was a former member of the CWA Local 361 leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment and boundless compassion. Betty was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Betty's name to American Cancer Society and American Red Cross.
