Ford, Betty Elaine (nee: Wright) Age 74, after a courageous and prolonged battle with severe burns as a youngster, cancer and COPD with multiple complications in mid and late life, passed peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, surrounded by her family. After graduating from Meridian High School, Meridian, MS, in 1955 she married her boyfriend Glaston J. Ford, Jr., June 16, 1956. She entered on active duty in the U.S. Army as a career officer’s wife; retired in 1980 at Wright Patterson, AFB, Dayton, OH, and relocated to St. Charles, MO in 1981. This journey took her through 16 relocations across 8 different states. Along the way, she raised a beautiful family of three, Glaston Grady, Michael Eugene and Stacey Lynn; this included four years alone while her husband was on unaccompanied military tours in flight school, Vietnam and Korea. She retired in 2002 after a 24 year successful career as a real estate agent in Oh and MO. She was the pillar of strength for her family, characterized by deep compassion and righteousness that we shall never forget. Survived by: husband, Glaston J. “Sonny” Ford, Jr., St. Charles MO; 2 sons Glaston “Grady” (Sherry)., Everette WA, Michael E. (Jody), O’Fallon, MO; daughter Stacey L. Jung, St. Charles, MO; 2 daughter-in-laws, 3 granddaughters, one grandson and one great granddaughter. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
