Betty Louise Bauer, beloved mother and grandmother, died at her home in Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ethel L. Presley and William B. Presley, and two sisters: Daphne Nadine Roberts and Margie Presley.
After moving to St. Louis, she began working at the National Personnel Records Center, where she met her husband Russ (Edward Russell) Bauer. They wed in 1950 and enjoyed a loving marriage until Russ’s death in 1977.
Before her marriage, Betty enjoyed taking the streetcar to explore the city and playing tennis in Forest Park. In middle age, she overcame her fear of swimming and took lessons at the YMCA with her sister-in-law, Margaret. She loved porch swings, milkshakes, and tacos. Skilled at poker, she attended weekly games with her friends for years. Later, she passed on the tradition to her grandchildren, where it became a regular feature of the holidays. She had been an avid golfer and loved word games. She was famous for her chocolate cake, and infamous for her strawberry cake.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: James (Patty) Bauer, Michael (Carol) Bauer, and Mary (Randy) Horner; and six grandchildren: David Bauer (Sarah Walter), Melissa Bauer (Jose’ Garza), Adam (Jaclyn) Bauer, Nila McGinnis, Russell Horner, and Jessica Bauer.
She will be remembered for loving to spend time with her family; visiting her mother and sister in Florida and doting on her grandchildren. Most of all, she will be remembered for her warmth and affection.
Memorials may be made in Betty's name to the American Cancer Society.
