Betty Lou Countaway

August 11, 1932 — March 25, 2006

Betty Lou Countaway, 73, passed away peacefully from Mark Twain Manor in Bridgeton, Missouri on March 25, 2006. She was cared for by members of her loving family as she was welcomed into the arms of the Lord. Betty Lou was born in Syracuse, NY, August 11, 1932 to the late Dorice and James Blakeslee. She was a graduate of The State University of New York at Albany with a degree in Education. Along with her husband, William Countaway, she later settled in Ravena, NY and raised six children. Betty Lou is lovingly remembered as a devoted wife and mother. In her spare time, she enjoyed researching as well as writing Biblical texts. She was involved in her church and befriended by the community. She is known for encouraging “early rising” in the home, healthy breakfasts, daily devotions, and is remembered for her tasty turkey and lettuce sandwiches. She provided a loving, safe and nurturing home. As a virtuous woman, her children have risen up to call her “blessed”. Betty Lou is survived by her husband, William Countaway, and their six children; Kathryn LaFave and her husband Rev. Timothy LaFave of Corinth, NY, Carolyn Little and her husband Bruce of Maryland Heights, MO, Rev. William Countaway Jr. and his wife Lynnette of Paw Paw, MI, Howard Countaway of Maryland Heights, MO, Andrew Countaway and his wife, Tiffini of Hazelwood, MO, and Amy and her husband Donald Warren of Corinth, TX. Her survivors include a sister; Barbara Blakeslee of NY, NY and grandchildren; Rachel Jeffers, Rhonda Morales, Travis LaFave, Jeremy Little, Jessica Little, Rebekah, Ian and William Warren, and great grandchild Theoden Jeffers. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday March 28, 2006 12:00 PM at The Baue Funeral and Memorial Center Chapel, 3950 West Clay, St. Charles, MO. Friends and family may call at the Baue Funeral and Memorial Center on Monday, March 27, 2006 5:00-8:00 PM. The family wishes to thank Mark Twain Manor.
