Betty Lou Nelms (nee Bennett), age 77, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, February 9th, 2022.
Born on September 15, 1944, to the late Herschel and Thelma (Roach) Bennett.
Beloved wife of Dennis Ronald Nelms for 57 years, loving mother of Gina (Christian Berblinger) Nelms of O'Fallon and James (Trisha) Nelms of O'Fallon; "bonus" Grandma of Emma Kathleen Chilcutt. "Sweet" Betty was a loving wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in law, sister to Shelba Tustanowski and preceded in death by: Janet "Sue" Chalupny, Ronald Bennett and Robert Bennett, sister-in-law to John Chalupny and preceded in death by: Gene Johnson, Opal (Nelms) Johnson, Joy Lee (Nelms) Dennis, Clyde Dennis and Robert Tustanowski, aunt, friend and neighborhood mom to many.
Betty enjoyed being surrounded by family, friends and laughter. Cruising or traveling the country, especially Florida - Tampa, New Smyrna and The Villages, with Dennis and family was one of her favorite past-times. In addition, having a Margarita at El Tio Pepe's or Fried Chicken at Hobo's with any and everyone made her day. She never met a stranger and always generously welcomed anyone as she always said, "the more the merrier".
Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s honor to American Heart Association.
