Betty Irene Smith

Betty Irene Smith (nee Baker), of St. Charles, Missouri, born and raised in Topeka, KS, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late William Henry Smith; cherished daughter of the late Irene and John H. Baker; devoted mother of Barbara (the late James) White, John Michael (Mary) Smith, Matt (Theresa) Smith, and the late William A. (survived by Pam) Smith; loving grandmother of Danny (Elizabeth) Smith, Tommy (Tara) Smith, Savannah Smith, Jamelle (Nick) Johnson, Jacob (Jessica) Day, Betty (Chris) Triplett, and Riley Harris; treasured great grandmother of Jillian, Morgan, Owen, Taylor, Logan, Bailey, Mason, Trenton, Trista, Tannor, Isabelle, Austin, Savannah, Kavan, Keira, and great-great grandmother of Riley; dear sister of the late Dick Baker, the late Bob Baker, and the late Linda Kellogg. 

Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her independence, intelligence, and love for life. An avid sports fan, she especially enjoyed watching football, baseball—cheering passionately for the Cardinals—and stock car racing. She found joy in traveling, with the Rocky Mountains in Colorado being a favorite destination and explored various places across the country. In her free time, Betty loved reading, solving puzzles, and bowling, but her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
