Bettye Jean Purtle-Frost (nee Smith), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of Arthur R. Frost; cherished daughter of the late John Daniel and Edna Christine Smith. Devoted mother of John (Pam) Purtle, Cindy (Larry) Gallaher, and Gregory (Teona) Purtle; loving grandmother and great-grandmother of many; dear sister of Ginger Searcy and Peggy Hall.
Bettye was a devoted member of Harvester Church of Christ and active in the Red Hat Society. She had a passion for travel and sightseeing. Married to Art for 30 years, she and her husband embarked on numerous road trips, visiting all 50 states together.
Bettye was a natural caregiver. She dedicated her career to caring for those at the Emmaus Home, a career path she was passionate about. Just as importantly, she cared for her own family. She always loved with a warm heart, a kind touch, and occasionally a not-so-subtle suggestion, but these suggestions came from a place of love. She saw the potential in everyone and helped each person reach their very best. If you were lucky, you would find yourself embraced in a “Bettye Hug”. Known for these exceptional hugs, you would truly feel the warmth in her embrace. Bettye is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
