Billy “Bill” J. Brewington of St. Charles, MO, and formerly of Abilene, TX, entered into the glory of Heaven the morning of Friday, May 4
th, 2018 at the age of 76. While he will be missed greatly, his family rejoices in his Heavenly new home. Bill is fondly remembered by Carolyn Crawford Brewington, wife of 28 years, by Barbara Brewington, former wife, by daughter Jana Gray and her husband Stephen, by son Jason Brewington and his wife Sherry, and by stepdaughter Leslie Firebaugh and her husband Chet. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Austin and his wife Bayleigh, Bailey, Allison, Jackson, Owen and Warren. In addition, Bill is survived by a wide circle of close friends and extended family, all of whom he loved dearly.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bill was born to William Wesley Brewington and mother Pearl (Allenbaugh) Brewington on January 16 of 1942. Bill was the youngest of eight children. Brothers Oren, Jimmy, J.W., and Eugene, along with sisters Mamie, Dortha, and Helen all preceded Bill in death. Bill is also preceded in death by four half-brothers Bill, Marvin, Glenn and Allen.
After graduating from Tulsa Central High School in 1960, he studied at Oklahoma State University where he earned a degree in Marketing in 1964. While attending OSU, he met and married Barbara Anne (Heminger) Brewington, together with whom he raised two children, Jana and Jason.
After graduation, Bill’s career took him a short distance to Texas but eventually reached around the globe. As a young executive with Anderson Clayton Foods, he traveled to locations along the Pacific Rim, South America, and Central America. After 13 years, Anderson Clayton named Bill President of Acco Feeds, which relocated Bill and family to Abilene, Texas.
In Abilene, Bill continued on to become President and part-owner of E.C. Tool and Supply and also part-owner of D.B. Drilling, two oil industry businesses. Bill also devoted time to the community as he served as Director on the boards of West Texas Rehab Center, West Texas Exposition Center, West Texas Fair and Rodeo, American Feed Manufacturers Association and First State Bank. Also during this time he was elected to serve on the Wylie ISD School Board.
After leaving the oil business, Bill moved to San Antonio, Texas, taking a position with Superior Auctioneers. There, he married Carolyn (Crawford) Terry, and became a loving stepfather to Leslie. Bill and Carolyn’s life together took their family from San Antonio to Houston, Dallas, and then back to Abilene where he returned to the oil business. Before his retirement, Bill was honored by the Texas Alliance of Independent Energy Producers for his contributions to the industry. After retiring, Bill and Carolyn moved to St. Charles, Missouri where they spent the last years of his life together near the Firebaugh family and granddaughter Allison.
Bill loved the Lord and his church family, and enjoyed the blessings of their community group. He adored his dogs, telling jokes, listening to people’s stories, reading, sports, visiting with or about his grandkids, and having lunch with his pals. Bill was known for his quick wit, for making a mean pot of chili, and for his devotion to his community, friends and loved ones.
