Reed; cherished son of Ada Reed and the late Hunter Reed; dearest father of Angela R. Batchelor, Dr. Edwin T. Batchelor, D.D.S., Lajuana Batchelor Counts, Esq. (Stanley) and Byron M. Reed; dear brother of Willie Frank Reed (Becky) and the late John, Charles and Leroy Reed; beloved grandfather of Jené, Steffan and Michelle Counts. He is also survived by one aunt, Thelma Curry, six sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mr. Reed was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church, St. Charles, MO, was a Steward, Trustee, Church Treasurer (10 years), Commissioner for 27 years of the St. Charles Housing Authority and was currently the Board Chairman. He graduated from Kentucky State College with his B.S. Degree (1962) and Southern Illinois Univ. with his MBA (1975). He was a former member of St. Charles Breakfast Optimist Club and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was also Coordinator for the Blue Cross Sharing is Caring Food Drive, and advisor for Junior Achievement (10 Years) and a member of the Board of Directors for the Black Knights Drum & Bugle Corps in the 1980's. Among his achievements were awards for Southeast NAHRO Missouri Commission of the Year Award (2004), Missouri NAHRO Commissioner of the Year Award (2004), City of St. Charles, MO Community Service Proclamation (2003), 5th District Lay Organization AME Church Community Person of the Year (1996) and the Urban League of St. Louis ''Yes, I can Award'' (1978).
