It is with great sadness that the family of Burl H. McPhee announces his passing following a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. Burl McPhee, of St. Charles, MO, passed away on Thursday May 3, 2018 at the age of 75.
Burl was born to parents Burl and Edna McPhee on December 26, 1942 in Des Moines, IA. He grew up as the eldest of two and attended Des Moines Tech High School. In 1962, he married his sweetheart, Valinda Overton, whom he met in Junior Achievement. Burl and Valinda moved to the St. Louis area in 1972 where Burl worked for the State Hospital. Burl later graduated from Washington University and took a role with Southwestern Bell (now AT&T) working in Data Management. Burl had a great career with AT&T, managing multiple aspects of AT&T’s Data Management function over the years, and retired in 2006 after 28-years of distinguished service.
Burl is survived by his wife, Valinda McPhee; daughter, Andrea Obst (Dave); son Mark (Tina); four grandchildren, Taylor Obst, Shelby Wade (Michael), Brooke & Blake McPhee; and sister, Nancy Wandling (Myron).
A Celebration of Burl’s Life will be held at his home (2951 Fox Bluff Drive, St. Charles, MO 63301) on Friday June 1st from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. This will be an ‘open house’ type event with a Service held at 6 p.m.
