Memorials may be sent to Catholic Charities or the American Red Cross. Carmela was born in St. Louis on June 4, 1919. She was the second child of Italian immigrants, Eugenio and Rosina Tacony. She had an older brother Nick, and a younger brother Albert, both deceased, and a younger sister, Dorothy, who lives in Florida. She married William Chester Stinson in 1940. They had one son, William B. Stinson (Janice) of St. Peters. In 1948 they moved to St. Louis where Carmela worked as a seamstress. Her husband and a partner began Tech Manufacturing in 1956. The company is located in Wright City, and Carmela was a member of the Board of Directors until her death. Carmela served as an alderman for the Village of Hanley Hills and as a past president of the Optimist Club. She was also very involved in the youth sports program. In 1967 Carmela joined the University of Missouri Extension Club and the Bogey Hills Country Club. Carmela was honored in 1997 by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Porgram due to having served may years as a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles MO. Carmela loved fishing, dancing, traveling, bridge, bingo and casino parties. She taught all four of her grandsons, William A. (Cassandra), Joseph M., Gregory C., and Charles E. to fish. She has been an inspiration to her many friends and family encouraging them to never give up and to live life to the fullest.
