Carol Kellenberger (nee Hoffmann) was born on 8/15/1937 in Faribault, Minnesota. The youngest of 3 children (Gloria, Richard and Carol), the family later moved to the Quad Cities. After high school Carol worked for a local insurance company, and then moved by herself to St. Louis, where she got a job at McDonnell Aircraft Co. Working there as a secretary to the Head of the Flight Test division, she met the original 7 astronauts, among others. Later she worked in Headquarters, part of the time for J.S. McDonnell. She left McDonnell Aircraft to stay at home with their 3 year old, Kristin.
The family moved to St. Peters, Missouri in 1977 and lived there until Bill & Carol moved to Breeze Park in 2016.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, daughter Kristin (Denbow) and her husband Bill Schiller and their family, and her brother Rev. Richard Hoffmann (WI).
There will be an informal ‘Celebration of Life’ for Carol Kellenberger on Monday, May 16 from 4PM -7PM in the Breeze Park Chapel at 600 Breeze Park Drive, Weldon Spring, Missouri 63304. Please park in front of the building and enter through the main entrance, or at the Care Center parking and enter through that entrance and proceed to the Chapel. Because of the COVID restrictions, please plan for COVID screening, and wear a mask.
