Carolee G. Peterson of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 97 on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. She was born and raised in Purdin, MO and spent much of her adult life in Media, PA.
Carolee is survived by her children, David (Gail) Peterson, Linda (the late Andrew III) Giesen, and Brenda (Timothy) Savago; her eight grandchildren Jennifer Hartley, David Peterson, Christina (Nicklaus) Hetfeld; Jesse Savago (Christen Padilla), Kelly (Rodrigo) Bustamante, Matthew (Sarah) Savago, Joseph Giesen, and Carrie Giesen; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Carolee was married for almost 74 years to her beloved husband Ray, who passed away in April 2020. Carolee and her husband made and nurtured lifelong friendships which they cherished through the years. She was devoted to her husband and family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Media, PA, where she served for many years as a volunteer in church activities. As a girl, she was a strong athlete, playing softball and basketball in her hometown. Later, she served as a scout den mother, assisted with her daughters’ horseback riding activities, and enjoyed woodworking, sewing, hiking with her hiking club, hunting for treasures at garage sales, and cooking wonderful meals for her family and friends. She adored being a grandmother and was full of ideas for adventures with her grandchildren.
She attended Chillicothe Business College after high school and worked in various businesses during her life, but her primary career was being wife, mother and grandmother. Carolee was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Ray Duane Peterson, her parents, Grover Andrew Garrett and Sue Gilmer Garrett, and seven sisters, Frances (Oscar) Thorne, Louise (Robert) Hoover, Vivian (Richard) Shanks, Esther (J.D.) Nichols, Mary (L. M. Babe) Kimbrough, Doris (Edwin) Erskine and Lila (James) Lorenz.
Memorial contributions in Carolee’s name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to First Baptist Church of Media, PA.
