Entered into rest on October 18, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Caroline J. Rostankowski on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 95. A cherished member of our community, Caroline lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for the simple joys of life.
Born on October 20, 1928, in Milwaukee, WI, Caroline had a spirit that embraced the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing and boating, often spending weekends on the water, soaking up the sun and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Her love for nature extended to her beautiful garden, where she found solace and joy in nurturing plants and flowers.
An avid participant in her local bowling league, she brought camaraderie and friendly competition to the lanes, forging friendships that lasted a lifetime. She was known for her infectious laughter and her ability to light up any room.
One of her most beloved traditions was making breakfast on Christmas Day, a heartfelt occasion where friends gathered to enjoy her delicious meals (and a few beverages) and share in the warmth of the holiday spirit. In addition to her cooking skills, Caroline had a talent for baking cookies, often filling her home with sweet aromas, and sharing her creations with neighbors and friends.
After retiring, Caroline continued to serve her community by driving the school bus in Wisconsin, where she became a familiar and beloved presence for countless children. Her commitment to their safety extended to her role as a crossing guard for Forest Park Elementary in O’Fallon, MO where she ensured that children arrived at school safely each day.
Caroline is survived by her children, Christine Mueller (John) of St. Paul, MO, and Robert Vanooyen (Debbie) of Zephyrhills, FL.; four grandchildren, Terri Kuhn (Kevin), Dori Orf (Chris), Trina Vazquez (Jessie), and Paul Thomas (Kathy). Great grandchildren include Max Thomas, Nick Thomas, Kate Thomas, Jack Thomas, Jayne Thomas, Grace Thomas, Keegan Orf, (Kayla) Nick Orf (Madeleine), Macey Orf, Alyssa Mazza (Matt), Dalton Kuhlmann, Gavin Vazquez, and Devin Vazquez. Great great grandchildren, Charlotte Orf, Roman Orf, Ellie Orf, and Rosie Orf. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Service details are posted below from Baue Funeral Home in O’Fallon.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Society for the Blind, an organization that was close to Caroline's heart.
