Carroll Dean Purdy, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Purdy; cherished son of the late Cordula (Purdy) Howard and the late Vernon Purdy; devoted father of Lisa Dingledine, Deana (Kevin) Knoblauch, and Jami Purdy; loving grandfather of Chelsea Dingledine, Lauren Dingledine, Amanda Sanders, Austin (Ashley) Knoblauch, Danielle (Tyler) Felker, Madison Knoblauch, Molly (Danny) Davis, Nicholas Purdy, and Samantha Purdy; treasured great grandfather of Sophia, Luca, David, Georgia, Kinleigh, Maren, Mila, Hadley, Eva, Scottlyn, Kollins, Kendra, and Zoe; dear brother of the late Arvel Sydney (the late Doris) Purdy and the late Franklin Wayne (Joan) Purdy; loving and dedicated uncle, cousin, and friend.
Carroll proudly and honorably served in the United States Army and was a devoted man of faith, actively involved in Zion Lutheran Church. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed playing horseshoes and looked forward to weekend poker nights. Though he considered himself a hunter, he was more drawn to the camaraderie than the sport itself. The lessons, memories, and friendships from his childhood, shaped by his mother’s work at a Lutheran orphanage, remained with him throughout his life. A loving father to his daughters and a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, Carroll cherished his family above all else. He and Patti shared 47 wonderful years together, and she was the love of his life, to whom he gave his whole heart. Carroll was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
