Charlene Emma Green (nee Duncan), 77, of Wentzville, Missouri, stepped peacefully into the arms of Jesus while surrounded by her loving children on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Charlene was born February 21, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Frank and Mildred (Grogan) Duncan.
Charlene married her sweetheart and best friend the late Ernest Green, in August 1965. During their 56 years of marriage, Charlene & Ernest were inseparable. Through their love, they were blessed with a family of five children and eight grandchildren.
Charlene’s faith held a significant place in her heart. Her relationship with God and her deep faith and trust in Him carried her through the happy and hard moments in her life. She devoted much of her life to serving the church. In her early years, she sang and played the piano and organ for church services and sang and traveled with a Gospel group called, The Waymakers. Charlene led Missionette Girls Ministry, taught Sunday School for kids of all ages, sang in the choir and assisted wherever help was needed in the church.
Charlene was gifted in administration and used her skills at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Monsanto, Barnwell Jr High, and helped run her husband’s small business. She had a great love for kids and worked many years as a preschool teacher and was an in-home babysitter for many families. However, Charlene’s heart was always focused on being a wife, mom, and grandma. She shared her love of reading, crafting, and baking with her children and grandchildren. She cherished moments reading to and rocking her grandchildren while singing old hymns and choruses to them.
Charlene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest; eldest son Steven; sisters Verna Brown and Janet Sharpe; nephew Billy Evans. Charlene is survived by her son, Byron Green; daughters Teresa (Bill) Swaringim, Tina (Eric) Allen, and Tammy Green; grandchildren, Brittany (Vicente), Caitlyn, Ashleigh, Brandon, August, Hannah, Breanna, and Emma Faith; brother-in-law Ronnie Sharpe; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Charlene's name to: Alport Syndrome Foundation or The Jimmy Swaggart-General Fund.
