Schlenke, Charles B., of Saint Peters, MO, died on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of 69 years to Laverne C. Schlenke; cherished son of the late Frank and Mary Schlenke; devoted father of Sandra (Thomas) Hobday, Cynthia (Allen) Hemmersmeyer, and Suzanne Shilharvey; loving grandfather of Thomas (Tammy) Hobday, Shawn (Sarah) Hobday, Aaron (Deanna) Hemmersmeyer, Megan (Joey) Wilmes, and Charles Shilharvey; treasured great-grandfather of Sydnie, Alexis, Kayla, Ashley, Chase, Colton, and Cecelia; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Charlie was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Danny Silharvey and his siblings: Loyola Leistner, Edward Schlenke, and Wilfred Schlenke.
Charlie was a World War II veteran and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was part of the Eighth Armored Division. For his heroic actions, he received the bronze star on February 24, 1945. He was a member of the American Legion Post #313, VFW Post #5077, Amvets, Knights of Columbus, 7 Oaks Farm, and a lifelong member of All Saints Catholic Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
