Charles Bybee of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at the age of 94. Cherished son of the late Charles M. and Harriett Bybee; devoted father of the late James Terry Bybee; treasured grandfather of Heather (Jason) Moss, Becky Bybee, and Brandon (Stephanie) Bybee; loving great-grandfather of Jacob, Jack, Joseph, Justin, and Aiden; dear father-in-law of Betty Bybee; loving brother of the late Mary Bybee. He is also survived by his beloved, longtime companion and dance partner, Marie Everhardt.
Charles attended trade school in Moberly, Missouri and played on the school’s football team. After trade school, he secured a job with Curtiss Wright Aircraft before being drafted in the United States Army in 1943. Charles proudly served his country, and after being honorably discharged, he gained his Aircraft and Powerplant License. He then devoted over 37 years as an airplane mechanic at Trans World Airlines before retiring. After retirement, he was able to find more time to pursue his passion for ballroom dancing. However, there wasn’t enough music or energy to do that full time so he bought three houses and four apartments to keep him busy. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to the casino, traveling to Vegas, and dining out, especially at Gingham’s. He will be remembered for his kind and loving personality, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
