Charles Eugene McKinney, 87, Rogersville, Missouri, passed away at 8:40 a.m.., Sunday, December 1, 2013 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born July 21, 1926 in Koshkonong, Missouri the son of the late Ollie and Ida (Gregory) McKinney. He was united in marriage to Bernice E. Schaffrin. She preceded him in death in 1984. In 1987 he married Mary Lou Horton. He was also preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Wells.
Charlie was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for over 34 years. He was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed telling stories about his youth. He was a World War II veteran and a 1947 graduate of Ritenour High School in St. Louis County. He was of the Catholic faith and continue to support several Catholic charities through the years. He was currently a member of Parkview Christian Church in Springfield, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; three sons, Michael McKinney and his wife Diane; Kevin McKinney and his wife Stephanie; and Tim McKinney and his wife Patrice; a daughter, Sherri Jenkins and her husband Larry; two step-sons, Harold Horton and his wife Lavon; and Randy Horton and his wife Sandy; two brothers, Chester McKinney and his wife Helen; and Richard McKinney and his wife Jo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
