Dr. Charles ''Doc'' Walters, President Bogey Hills Country Club, died December 18, 2001. He was 80 years old, and lived in St. Charles Missouri for 74 years. In the late thirties, Doc was owner/operator of a local St. Charles Ice Cream Parlor, ''Three Flowers Ice Cream''. In 1942, Doc received his O.D. Degree, and in 1943 started his own optometry practice. In addition to his practice, Doc purchased and managed several rental apartments. He was a member and president of Kiwanis, Rotary, and the St. Louis District President's Association. In 1948 he founded the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and later founded a Junior Baseball league, which grew from four original teams to over 40 by 1953. In 1960, Doc and a partner developed the Charwood subdivision, which was the first subdivision in the St. Charles area. He later sold that partnership, and purchased the 9 hole St. Charles Country Club, now known as Bogey Hills Golf & Country Club. The club was renovated and reopened on Memorial Day 1962, and by 1964 had become semi-private and a swimming pool was added. At the end of 1971, Bogey Hills became a first class 18 hole golf course, complete with a six acre lake. In 1974, Doc and his wife Doris sold the optometry practice, and took over management of the club. By 1980, the course had become private, and gained increased stature and membership. The course in its current design hosted such prestigious tournaments as the Bogey Hills Invitational and has counted many PGA Tour players among its guests. Doris Walters passed away in 1993, making Bogey Hills Doc's number one priority. Doc was preceded in death by his wife Doris K.
