It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles, who departed this life on August 11, 2024. He was 84 years old.

Born on September 18, 1939, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Charles was the beloved husband of Susan for 58 years. He was a devoted father to Michael (the late Patricia) Stoops, Jeffrey (Robyn) Stoops and Tiffany (Scott) Alewel and a cherished grandfather to Molly (Connor) Goodrich, Lexi (Zach) Ericson, Andrew (Madison) Stoops, Ashley Absolon, Noah Alewel, Brooke Alewel, Joseph Stoops and Ashley Alewel. 

Charles grew up in North Saint Louis County and was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Hazelwood High school in 1957. He went on to join the Navy and then had an over 30-year career at Wetterau (SuperValu) retiring in 2001. He was a member and treasurer for the IPC Club for many years. His love of baseball, music, family and friends was evident to all who knew him. His kindness, wisdom and sense of humor will be deeply missed by family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father Walter and mother Erin "Pat" Hixson (nee Molloy), brothers Doug (Donna) and James Hixson and sisters Barbara (the late Gordon) Anzalone and Erin (the late James) Mossinghoff. 

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service or viewing, only a private service for immediate family. Those who wish to honor his memory are invited to do so by contributing to the charity of your choice. 

A Celebration of Life will be planned for some time in the near future. 

He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
